Inviting family

Roles, invitations, and how contributions get reviewed.

Once other people join a project, the Collaboration tab is where you manage who can do what.

  1. 1

    Open the Collaboration tab

Every project has a Collaboration tab listing current members, an invite form, and an activity feed of recent changes.

    The roles

Owner and Editor can edit anything in the project. Viewer can only look. A Branch contributor can add and edit only the people they add themselves — a trusted contributor edits their own additions freely; a standard one loses edit rights once their addition is approved. A Yearbook contributor can upload photos and notes to a Yearly Book but has no tree-editing rights.

  3. 3

    Invite someone

Enter their email in the invite form and choose their role. They'll receive an invitation; once accepted, they appear in the member list and can be assigned a different role or removed at any time.

  4. 4

    Comments and presence

Contributors can leave comments on the tree, and you'll see a live presence indicator when someone else is viewing or editing the same project. The activity feed rolls up every invite, edit, and comment in one place.
