Building your Family Tree

A Family Tree project is built through conversation, not a form. The companion chat asks for exactly what it needs, one piece at a time, and adds people to your tree as you go.

   Start free

   Click Start free on `/dashboard/projects` (or from `/services`) to create a Family Tree project instantly — no card, no wizard.

   Meet the companion

   The Intake tab opens with a chat companion. Tell it who you want to add — a parent, a grandmother, a date — and it captures the people you describe, offering to add each one to your tree.

   💡 Tip: Full names help matching. "Albert Louis Raoul Ponson" lets the AI connect records that "A. Ponson" cannot.

   Feed it everything you have

   Attach documents with the paperclip — the companion reads them and finds every person named inside. Upload portraits and photos. Or just talk or type; mentioning a person is enough.

   💡 Tip: If an ancestor wrote something themselves — a journal, letters, an unfinished manuscript — mark it "written by the ancestor" when uploading. Their own words shape their story and their animated portrait's narration.

   Grow and research the tree

   Accept the companion's "Add to my tree" offers, then open Research on your key people. Research turns your uploads into verified facts, biographies, and timelines. Re-run it any time you add new material — it only adds, never repeats.

   💡 Tip: Run "Find duplicates" after a large import — variant spellings of the same ancestor can be merged in one click, keeping every relationship.
