Photos, documents, and recordings are the raw material every product is built from. Here's what to upload and how to get the most out of it.

   Documents

   Attach family-history documents, journals, or archives with the paperclip in the companion chat. The companion reads them and finds every person named inside — one well-organized archive beats twenty fragments.

   Photos

   Upload portraits and family photos; you can tag who appears in them. Photos feed the tree's restored portraits and, for Yearly Book, the year's layout.

   💡 Tip: Upload originals, not photocopies of photocopies — sharper scans mean better text extraction and better restored photos.

   Just talk

   Type or use the microphone in the companion chat. Mention a parent, a grandmother, a date — the companion captures the people you describe and offers to add them to your tree.

   An ancestor's own words

   If an ancestor wrote something themselves — a journal, letters, an unfinished manuscript — mark it "written by the ancestor" when uploading. Their own words shape their biography, their storybook, and their animated portrait's narration.
